I would like to take up a job in London. What do I have to do?
In general, it is difficult to find a job in a
London hospital straight away if you are coming from abroad. London has
an excess of doctors due to its many medical schools and its
attractivity. However, unlike in Germany, it is seen regularly that
doctors from smaller places find a job in London after some time. Thus
it would be advisable to start off somewhere else to get your foot in
the door. Once you are established in the British system and once you
have British referees the way to London seems to be smoother. Don't
expect it to be easy, though.
